Welcome to the podcast. So, we're Scott and Ariana.

We're young couple from Kitchener, Ontario and we have 2 really cute small kids, we love people and we desire to constantly learn new things.

So awhile back we decided to start this podcast because I sometimes have trouble getting my point across clearly, and Ariana – she's an introvert. So this is a great outlet for both of us to share some thoughts and have some good conversation.

Hopefully. I didn't seem too many podcasts where a couple – married couple – was doing it together. So we thought this would be a fun way for us to spend some time together.

Yeah, and to be honest, our podcast is called active listening because we want people's stories to change us. And we also want to share that with a bunch of you guys. So our first series is called Church &. Over the past few years, our views on life, faith, politics, environment, and so many other things have morphed into. So we've been together on a journey basically about: what is church? And what does that even mean?

Yeah, it's been really fun to interview some of our family and friends and not just interview but just have real conversations with them about some good topics. And we have a lot of really good stuff lined up.

Yeah, some great stories and perspectives. So each episode, just a caveat. Each episode we recorded were where real life is happening. So you know, dining tables, living rooms, all kinds of stuff. So we've come to realize that there's a lot more than meets the eye. And sometimes people they have all kinds of stories like heartache, joy, passion, on and on that goes.

Yeah, our deep desire is to create a safe place for ideas can be expressed. And hearts can heal through the sharing of people's stories and exploring tough topics. Because we don't always know how to talk about things. So I think this will be really great for people.

Scott deVries

Yeah, and it will also be great for us that our guests – to be honest – not always share the same views on with us or draw even the same conclusions. And you may find the same but honestly, that's part of the fun because we want people to we want people to share openly and honestly and be themselves and then we can still love each other and be in each other's lives. Even though we stand maybe a little bit differently on the issues and we want others to be able to change our view, right? All of us have changed your view on something because of the way somebody else was, or a story that someone's been through. So we want these stories to perhaps change you as they've changed us.

And maybe we'll end up making some new friends along the way with you and you maybe we'll be able to get together with more people. So we're so glad that you've joined us on this journey of active listening, of discovering and uncovering and allowing you to change us.
